Dates in the month

Bookkeepers Dallas keeps the dates the city sets inside the same month.

Steven Palmieri, a Tax CFO and the Entrepreneur's CFO, keeps the sales tax report and the property list in the same books.

The figures below are published numbers. They follow the address. They are not a quote for one company, and they do not replace the lookup on your own location.

Sales tax, including the transit penny

At the sales tax point used in Dallas, state sales tax is 6.25 percent, the city is 1 percent, and Dallas Area Rapid Transit is 1 percent. Together that is 8.25 percent. Dallas County does not levy a county sales tax, because DART holds that local percent.

Thirteen member cities share the transit penny, Dallas among them. A sale on the other side of a city limit can pick up a different local piece. The Comptroller address lookup is how a seller checks the point the sale leaves from.

The report that includes the DART amount is due on the 20th. The close should already have the amount in the books, so the morning is a filing and not a reconstruction. Comptroller walk in help that serves Dallas is open Monday and Wednesday into the afternoon, and Friday morning.

The property list and a protest

The business property list in Dallas County is due on 15 April, and a written request can move it to 15 May. In Dallas County a value protest is late after 15 May, unless the notice itself started a 30 day window that ends later.

Dallas ISD covers 82.99 percent of the blocks in the set used here. The 2025 total rate beside that set is 0.993835 per 100 dollars of taxable value, with maintenance and operations at 0.7518 and interest and sinking at 0.242035. A different block can sit in a different district. The rate on a bill is the one for that address.

The Dallas Central Appraisal District sets values for many local jurisdictions, not only the city. If your list is the date in front of you, the books are where the list gets gathered. The filing itself can still be yours. DCAD is open to the public on weekdays from early morning through the afternoon.

May, hotels, and a long fair week

The Texas franchise report is due on 15 May. The Comptroller published a no-tax-due line of two million six hundred fifty thousand dollars for the 2026 and 2027 report years. Retail and wholesale are figured at 0.375 percent, and other business at 0.75 percent. Those rates are statewide. They still need a year of closed months under them.

The city charges a 9 percent hotel occupancy tax on net room revenue. Owners, operators, and managers of hotels or short term rentals register with the city to collect it. A short term rental near the fair is still a filing, and the month should see that money with the rest of the books.

Fair week at Fair Park lengthens the evenings around the park, and the sales-tax file for the 20th still has to be ready on an ordinary morning. We treat the longer evenings as a reason to protect that file. A longer week is a reason to protect the close, not a reason to skip the report.
